Janet
was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She is a graduate of the
school of nursing at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
She and her husband Jim raised their family, a son and two daughters,
in London, Ontario. The family moved to Aurora, Ontario in 1984,
and then to their summer cottage on the lake in Muskoka, Ontario.
Janet was the owner of the Tanglewood Studio in Muskoka from 1984 to 2006; she recently relocated to Collingwood Ontario. She has been a part-time resident of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, since 1992.

Janet’s paintings are displayed in corporate offices in Toronto, and in many private homes in Europe, Canada and the United States.

“I started to paint in 1988
while visiting Santorini, Greece, with my sister Joan Cusack, who is an
artist. I soon realized that formal training was required, and
have taken many workshops with well-known Canadian and American
artists. Among them are Pauline Holancin, Jill Segal, Margaret
Roseman, Bryan Ateyo,
Art Cunanan, Skip Lawrence, Frank Webb, and
William Versack.
I love the softness and impressionistic images that watercolours create (though I work with acrylics as well). Colour excites me, which is why flowers are one of my favorite subjects. My travels in Europe, Mexico, Canada, and the United States have inspired me with wonderful subject matter for landscapes.
Painting has proven to be a delightful challenge, and I find it to be a never-ending adventure. Moreover, through my involvement with painting, I have formed many friendships that I value most highly."
